CPI and ER24 are joining forces with the relevant community forums to ensure that we protect our community, ensuring that we create a safer community. Our K-9 Unit is used for the following purposes:
- Apprehension
- Perhaps the most popular discipline of any K-9 dog is suspect apprehension. Our K-9 crew are trained to bite dangerous suspects in order to hold them hostage. In many situations, they are the first ones to put their lives on the line and go in against an armed suspect to protect their human partners.
- Detection
- It’s no secret that dogs have an amazing sense of smell. Dogs have 225 million scent receptors in their noses (compared to a human's 5 million), and we use this ability of theirs to our advantage when fighting crime. When it comes to criminal activity, our K-9 crew are often taught to detect various drugs, explosives, and other crime scene evidence. Our K-9 crew are able to perform their tasks anywhere where there is a need for our K-9 crew.
- Search and Rescue
- A large part of the purpose of our K-9 unit is searching for criminals that have fled a crime scene. Our dogs are trained to search for the scent of a criminal that have fled a crime scene in order to ensure that criminals are arrested. Our K-9 crew are able to cover kilometres and kilometres of land looking for a criminal, ammunition and/or stolen goods. The ability of our K-9 crews to cover large areas in a relatively short period of time provides a great resource when looking for criminals, ammunition and/or stolen goods. Our K-9 crew are able to get the job done with unique precision.
Dog Training
The K-9 crew of CPI Security are offering professional dog training classes for any type of dog. The purposes of this dog training are to ensure that you have a trained dog that is obedient and to ensure that your dog knows how to protect you.
The following are the different type of dog training objectives that are set out in our dog training:
- Puppy Training
- We have the ability to train puppies above a certain age. This ensures that your dog is trained from a young age and that the correct foundation is built from the beginning.
- Personal Protection and Obedience Training
- Ensuring that there is clear communication between the dog and its owner. Furthermore, this training ensures that the owner has full control over the dog even at a distance.
- Tracker Dogs
- This training includes assessing a scene for possible tracks, providing a scent to a tracker dog, preparing the tracker dog to follow a scent, utilizing the dog to follow the scent track and to locate and identify a suspect or animal that was being followed.
- Patrol Dogs
- Patrol dogs must be trained to the minimum standard as per PSIRA requirements. This training ensures that a dog is able to detect an indtruder and to protect its handler.
- Detection Dogs
- This is a specialized training, ensuring that a dog is able to detect drugs, gunpowder etc.
